Serving as a critical bridge between technical teams and business objectives, the Technical Product Owner will define and prioritize the roadmap for developer platforms to ensure alignment with Ericsson's strategic goals and the delivery of measurable results.
Core Responsibilities
Platform Strategy and Vision – Develop and maintain a technology roadmap for Git Lab, Backstage, and related platform components, ensuring alignment with Ericsson's organizational objectives and developer ecosystem needs.
Translate customer and internal feedback into actionable plans so platform engineering initiatives reflect user requirements and deliver business value.
Champion the platform across the organization, building consensus and securing stakeholder buy-in at all levels.
Leadership in Platform Architecture – Oversee the design and evolution of platform architectures, ensuring scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions that meet Ericsson's engineering demands.
Drive the development of innovative platform features that improve developer workflows, such as DX portals, golden paths, and plugin ecosystems for Git Lab and Backstage.
Ensure platforms are robust, adaptable, and built for enterprise-scale workloads.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Governance – Act as the liaison between product, platform engineering, and operations teams, aligning business goals with technical execution.
Work with platform democracy groups to establish and uphold platform standards, governance models, and compliance frameworks.
Engage stakeholders to prioritize technical investments, resolve escalations, and ensure decisions reflect organizational priorities.
Enable Platform Adoption and Innovation – Lead large-scale adoption initiatives through effective onboarding strategies, user engagement frameworks, and feedback mechanisms.
Enhance developer satisfaction and productivity by implementing intuitive features in Git Lab and Backstage, including custom plugins and optimized workflows.
Advocate for scalability and systemic efficiency, ensuring Ericsson's developer tools are user-friendly, dependable, and future-ready.
Technical Product Leadership – Own and prioritize the platform product backlog, ensuring technical enhancements are delivered within business timelines.
Offer expertise in hybrid and cloud infrastructures, including large-scale Git Lab hosting and advanced Backstage component deployments.
Leverage data-driven insights to inform decisions on platform evolution, adoption trends, and strategic investments.
Skills You Bring To The Role
Proven Experience – 5+ years of successful technical leadership in platform engineering, product ownership, or related fields; demonstrated ability to lead adoption of enterprise-level platforms, including Git Lab and Backstage; documented success in scaling infrastructure projects and delivering measurable results in adoption, cost efficiency, or developer satisfaction.
Technical Mastery – Advanced proficiency with Git Lab, Backstage, and CI/CD pipelines; expertise in platform architecture, including hybrid cloud strategies with AWS or similar ecosystems; hands-on experience with infrastructure provisioning tools such as Kubernetes, Terraform, and automation frameworks.
Strategic Skills – Exceptional leadership in roadmap planning, technical prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration; ability to balance complex technical considerations with business goals, making strategic trade-offs for maximum value.
