An opportunity has arisen in our Laboratory department for a Senior Pathology Technician Histology.This is a full time, permanent contract.Purpose of the PostPerform routine work to the highest professional standards in the histopathology laboratory, as determined by the Group Laboratory Manager, Senior Laboratory Staff and Consultants, limited to:Specimen transferEmbedding tissueMicrotomySpecial stainsCase layoutSample ReferralEquipment MaintenanceBlock & Slide Filing as applicableProfessional qualifications, registration, essential skills & knowledge. Candidates must:Possess BSc in Biomedical or Biological Sciences, preferably with a practical background in HistopathologyPossess at least 1 years' experience in a medical laboratory since qualifying with a science degreeThe successful candidate should possess good interpersonal skills and awareness and sensitivity towards patients needs.In terms of future opportunities, the successful candidate may have a future opportunity to take part in a Higher Diploma in Medical Scientist course in ATU Galway.The entry requirements for this course are a Level 8 BSc in Biochemistry or Clinical/Medical Microbiology or Immunology or equivalent including a laboratory-based research project.
