As a JCI accredited hospital, Blackrock Clinic is a progressive and pioneering hospital in which care for the patient is central to everything we do.Role Purpose:The Senior Dietitian plays a pivotal role within the multidisciplinary healthcare team, delivering expert, patient-centred nutrition care and medical nutrition therapy tailored to individual needs. The role involves designing, implementing and evaluating dietetic care plans in line with current clinical evidence, Blackrock Clinic guidelines and Joint Commission International standards.The post-holder will demonstrate advanced skills in behaviour change, including motivational interviewing, and apply sound clinical judgement when translating evidence into practice, particularly where evidence is evolving or conflicting. The role requires safe, ethical and accountable practice, with appropriate escalation and collaboration within the dietetics team and wider MDT.Qualifications / Requirements:BSc or MSc in DieteticsMinimum 5 years post-qualification experienceDemonstrable experience in Women's Health conditionsRegistered with CORU and INDIKey Responsibilities:Clinical ResponsibilitiesDeliver safe, ethical and patient-centred dietetic care within the scope of professional competence, in accordance with best practice guidelines and governance standards.Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments using appropriate and validated methodologies.Interpret medical, clinical, biochemical and psychosocial information to inform care planning.Formulate, implement and review individualised nutrition care plans based on clinical findings and best available evidence.Apply behaviour change strategies, including motivational interviewing, to support sustainable dietary and lifestyle change.Maintain clear, accurate and timely documentation across the full nutrition care process.Engage patients and, where appropriate, families in shared decision-making to support adherence and outcomes.Provide balanced, scientifically grounded advice, including addressing misinformation related to nutrition and supplements.Contribute to the development and review of patient education resources, ensuring accessibility, cultural sensitivity and scientific accuracy.Discuss significant clinical decisions or new care approaches with the Dietitian Manager prior to implementation.Education and TrainingDeliver tailored, practical nutrition education aligned with individual patient goals and clinical needs.Lead and contribute to education sessions for the dietetics department and the wider MDT on Women's Health topics.Provide mentoring, supervision and professional support to dietitian colleagues as required.Support the education and development of HSCP colleagues and student dietitians.Maintain professional competence through ongoing CPD, engagement with emerging research and adherence to national and international guidelines relevant to Women's Health.AdministrativePrioritise workload effectively to maintain high standards of clinical productivity and service delivery.Manage time and resources in a cost-effective manner while maintaining quality of care.Maintain accurate clinical and administrative records in line with departmental and clinic policy.Contribute to service development, audit and evaluation within the Women's Health Clinic to support continuous improvement.Support the use and integration of digital tools and data systems in day-to-day practice.Health and SafetyAdhere to all Blackrock Clinic and Women's Health Clinic policies, procedures and safety protocols.Comply with health and safety legislation and standards relevant to dietetic practice.Support infection control, risk management and accreditation processes, including Joint Commission requirementsPromote a respectful, inclusive and safe environment for patients and colleagues.Performance Improvement & Evidence-Based PracticeRemain informed of current research and developments in nutrition and dietetics, particularly within Women's Health.Integrate high-quality evidence into clinical practice and service delivery.Engage in reflective practice and take responsibility for maintaining professional standards.Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation.Contribute to achieving and maintaining high levels of patient satisfaction and service quality.Why work at the Blackrock Clinic:At the Blackrock Clinic, we are passionate about our people and believe in their development and growth.
