We are seeking a full-time permanent Support Worker to join a residential care service for young people seeking international protection in Kilkenny.
The role involves a combination of shifts, which may include day shifts, 24-hour shifts, weekends, and bank holidays.
This is a fulfilling opportunity for someone passionate about making a difference in a young person's life through trauma-informed care and community support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day support in a residential care setting
- Assist with personal care, meals, transport, and activities
- Support young people in educational and recreational routines
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young residents
- Ensure a safe and nurturing environment at all times
- Collaborate with colleagues to deliver person-centred care
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 + years experience working within a residential or similar care setting
- Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable groups
- Excellent communication and team-working abilities
- A full clean manual driving licence
- Flexible to work shifts, including evenings and weekends
Desirable:
- Relevant QQI Level 5 qualification in social care, childcare, or healthcare
- Experience in residential or youth settings
- Understanding of trauma-informed care or cultural sensitivity
