Our client is one of Ireland's leading civils contractors with expertise in large scale infrastructure, water and wastewater, utilities, marine works, land reclamation, bulk earthworks projects for commercial and industrial clients
They are seeking to appoint an experienced Construction Procurement Specialist
This role will involve working closely with the Procurement Manager to assist in sourcing and managing procurement packages of varying scale, including larger and more complex materials and subcontract packages.
Assist the Procurement Manager in the delivery of larger and more complex procurement packages across multiple projects.
Support the tendering, evaluation, and award process for materials, plant, and subcontractors.
Issue and manage purchase orders in line with agreed procurement strategies, project specifications, and timelines.
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations and maintain up-to-date pricing information.
Help maintain procurement schedules, trackers, and procurement documentation to ensure project alignment.
Assist in supplier assessments and maintain supplier databases
Monitor order status and coordinate with logistics teams and site personnel to ensure timely deliveries.
Resolve any delivery, quality, or invoicing issues in coordination with the Procurement Manager.
Collaborate with the commercial, engineering, and site teams to understand project requirements.
Contribute to cost-saving initiatives and support value engineering efforts where applicable.
Ensure procurement practices comply with company procedures, legal standards, and quality expectations.
Requirements
3+ years' experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain coordination, ideally in a civil engineering or construction environment.
Relevant qualifications in Procurement, Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Attention to detail and strong organisational skills to manage procurement data and deadlines.
Basic knowledge of construction materials, plant, and subcontractor services.
Familiarity with procurement processes and documentation.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with procurement software is an advantage.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/specifications (desirable but not essential).
A willingness to learn and develop under the guidance of senior procurement staff.
