Staff Nurse Local Injury Unit Permanent Contract, Full Time Hours Mercy Injury Unit Centre, located in Gurranabraher, Cork, sees up to 19,000 patients per year.

The unit is made up of Medical, Nursing Staff, Health and Social Care Professionals, Healthcare Attendants, Clerical and Support staff.
The Staff Nurse (Local Injury Unit) is: Is professionally accountable to the Director of Nursing or designated officer and Will report operationally to the Clinical Nurse Manager 2 / Assistant Director of Nursing Responsibilities Include: Practice nursing according to the Code of Professional Conduct as laid down by the Irish Nursing Board (An Brd Altranais / NMBI) and Professional Clinical Guidelines (local and national).
Adhere to national, regional and local Mercy University Hospital guidelines, policies, protocols and legislation.
Work within their scope of practice and take measures to develop and maintain the competence necessary for professional practice.
Maintain a high standard of professional behaviour and be accountable for their practice.
Deliver the nursing care of an assigned group of patients within a best practice / evidence based framework.
Manage a designated caseload.
Promote the health, welfare and social wellbeing of patients within our services.
Participate in clinical governance structures within the local / regional / national clinical governance framework.
Take responsibility for own competency and learning and development needs and actively contribute to the learning and development of the interdisciplinary team.
Complete all mandatory training as deemed necessary by the Director of Nursing and ABA/ NMBI.
Ensure that records are safeguarded and managed as per Mercy University Hospitalpolicy and in accordance with relevant legislation.
Adhere to all hospital policies and guidelines associated with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Eligibility Criteria: Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses kept by NMBIor be entitled to be so registered.
Have the clinical and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
Candidates must possess 2 years Acute Emergency/Injury Unit nursing experience gained within the last 4 years.
A post graduate qualification in Emergency Nursing would be desirable.
