Job Purpose
To create sales revenue via a robust sales pipeline of specified projects to grow the business and support the recent investment and expansion in our client's smart factory. You will help lead the transformation of the steel reinforcement construction market from traditional, labour‑intensive processes to a fast, efficient, automated, and patented solution. As Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving market adoption, targeting senior decision‑makers across key sectors, and securing project specifications and delivering sales.
Key Responsibilities
Generate sales and revenue via a pipeline of specified projects
Champion the adoption of the company’s innovative steel reinforcement solutions, emphasizing their cost, labour, carbon, timesaving and health and safety benefits
Establish and keep relationships with senior‑level stakeholders across the construction industry, including main contractors, structural engineers, and specifiers
Influence specifications at the early design stage, ensuring the company’s technology becomes an integral part of large‑scale construction projects
Prepare and deliver compelling, project‑specific proposals and presentations to prospective clients with support from the head office
Collaborate with team members, sharing product knowledge and market insights to foster a culture of innovation and success
Provide regular detailed reports on market trends, sales progress, and customer insights, finding opportunities for further growth
Maintain and update all sales activities on the company’s CRM system
Focus on delivering sales in new strategic sectors such as ports, renewable energy, data centres, and other large‑scale infrastructure markets
Work closely with the technical support department to ensure all presentations and proposals meet project‑specific requirements
Key Candidate Requirements
A minimum of 5 years of senior‑level business development or specification sales experience within the construction industry, focusing on rebar, reinforced concrete, precast concrete, piling, prefabricated modular solutions, ground works or formwork systems
A 3rd level engineering qualification ideally in structural, civil, or mechanical engineering
Proven track record with clearly shown success in achieving revenue growth and exceeding sales targets
A well‑established construction industry network of contacts among main contractors, structural engineers, specifiers, and other key decision‑makers
Experience working on large‑scale infrastructure projects, particularly in ports, renewable energy, and data centre developments
Strong ability to deliver compelling CPDs and value‑driven pitches to senior stakeholders at board room level
Organized in time management and skilled at finding and prioritising opportunities, developing sales leads from cold calls, and prioritising tasks effectively
Positive can‑do attitude with exceptional relationship management skills with a team‑first approach
Field‑based with the ability to work remotely while travelling often to meet clients and attend site visits
