Registrar in – Role Profile
Department: Rheumatology, Medical Directorate
Salary Scale: Basic salary will be applied in line with approved HSE salary scales. Incremental credit will be awarded in accordance with the revised HSE framework for the application of increment credit
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The post holder will:
* Be responsible for the safe and efficient assessment of Emergency patients
* Work under consultant supervision to lead the resuscitation of all critically ill and injured patients
* Liaise effectively with other specialty teams in relation to patient referrals
* Supervise handover at the end of each shift.
* Balance service demands with their personal educational needs and those of the doctors and medical students they supervise
* Be supportive of junior staff, ANPs, nurses and other team members
* Participate in clinical risk management, audit and research activities
* comply with departmental clinical guidelines
* support by the Consultants and their Registrar colleagues.
* work a full shift roster, to a maximum of 44 hours per week, on average.
* comply with departmental leave policies and procedures
* demonstrate appropriate levels of professionalism in all aspects of your work and behaviour
Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications
Essential
* Must hold General Registration or Trainee Specialist Division Registration with the Irish Medical Council
Desirable
* Applicants are expected to have completed Basic Specialist Training in Internal Medicine, or Intensive Care Medicine.
* Possession of a post‑graduate qualification (e.g., MCEM, MRCS, MRCP), will be advantageous to the candidate, but is not a requirement for the post
* Candidates are expected to be ATLS or ACLS providers
* Core requirements for this post include: a demonstrable commitment to Internal Medicine, good decision making, a broad clinical knowledge base and appropriate clinical skills, awareness of patient safety and risk management issues and the ability to work efficiently under pressure and as part of a team.
