Overview
In this role, you will lead the delivery of civil engineering services for electricity infrastructure projects, managing technical specialists from project inception through planning-stage design and submission.
Key Responsibilities
Produce planning-stage designs for HV substation projects, including preparing planning drawings and coordinating specialist inputs (hydrology, ecology, geotechnical, etc.).
Provide civil engineering expertise throughout the development phase to support planning consent and capital approval.
Act as Lead Engineer on assigned projects, overseeing multidisciplinary design teams, managing client and stakeholder interfaces, and controlling project fees and schedules.

Specify, manage, and take responsibility for sub-contractor and sub-consultant deliverables across all project stages.
Liaise with local authorities, customers, consultants, landowners, and other stakeholders to ensure project deadlines and milestones are achieved.
Champion a strong safety culture by demonstrating proactive leadership in all safety-related activities.
Contribute to continuous improvement by applying feedback and lessons learned from previous projects to standardise processes.
Support the technical and professional development of junior team members.
Requirements
Level 8 Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
Chartered status (or working toward chartership) with a recognised professional institution is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in civil engineering or planning-stage design.
Proven experience delivering civil engineering and utility projects.
Knowledge and experience of local planning-stage design and submission processes.
Experience acting as Lead Engineer and/or PSDP on projects.
