Credit ManagerAn established banking group are now seeking an experienced Credit Manager to join Credit team within Risk Management. This is a key second-line role, supporting robust credit assessment, underwriting, and the effective co-management of credit risk across the C&B portfolio in Northern Ireland and the wider UK.This is a brand new, full-time permanent position to be based in their Belfast office with a hybrid working structure. The Role:As Credit Manager, you will play a central role in credit risk assessment, portfolio oversight, and process improvement. Key responsibilities include:Conducting second-line credit assessment and underwriting in line with Group Credit Policy and risk appetiteExercising Delegated Lending Authority (DLA) to support ongoing business growthAssessing credit applications for financial, structural, ESG, geopolitical, security and energy risksSupporting customers in financial difficulty, where requiredEnhancing the sourcing, quality, and use of portfolio, sectoral, and credit dataSupporting the development of stress testing frameworks across sectors and portfolio segmentsDriving process improvement, automation, and the adoption of new risk-based analysis techniquesCollaborating closely with 1st line banking teams, data analytics, automation, and Group credit stakeholdersIdentifying portfolio issues, risk trends, and improvement opportunitiesSupporting training and capability development across Credit and 1st line teamsDeputising for senior leadership and presenting cases in internal and Group Credit forums as required The Person:The successful Credit Manager will demonstrate:Experience as a Credit Manager or senior credit professional within Corporate or Business BankingStrong understanding of C&B portfolios, products, and sectoral riskProven ability to influence, challenge, and negotiate with senior stakeholdersExperience presenting credit analysis and recommendations in credit committee or risk forum settingsStrong decision-making capability under pressure, using complex data and tight deadlinesCommercial awareness combined with a strong customer-outcome focusBroad knowledge of core lending facilities and ancillary productsExperience working with customers across Northern Ireland and the wider UK, across a range of sectors Desirable:Exposure to data analytics, automation, robotics or AI decisioning within credit processesExperience supporting sustainability-led or transition-focused lendingKnowledge of stress testing and scenario analysis Criteria:Demonstrable experience in a related credit, banking or finance roleDegree in Business, Finance, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)Relevant professional or postgraduate qualifications (e.g. Accountancy, Institute of Bankers) advantageous The Rewards:Opportunity to influence credit strategy and portfolio qualityExposure to senior stakeholders and Group-level decision forumsInvolvement in modernising credit processes through data and automationSupportive, collaborative risk culture with strong development opportunities To speak in absolute confidence about this Credit Manager opportunity please send an up-to-date CV via the link provided or contact Josh Craig at MCS Group 02896 935531Even if this position is not right for you, we may have others that are.
