Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (CNM1) - Outpatient Department (OPD) Specific Purpose Contract, Part Time Hours (0.5 WTE) The CNM1 OPD will report to the Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) and is accountable to the Director of Nursing (DON). Responsibilities Include: Establish and maintain caring and therapeutic interpersonal relationships with individuals, clients, groups and communities. Ensure confidentiality on all clinical and non clinical information. Provide a high standard of professional and clinical leadership in all aspects of nursing care. Act as a positive and accountable role model in providing direct patient care. Develop leadership skills to create a suitable environment and effective team working. Ensure new members to the clinical area are made feel welcome and a have adequate support. Seek help and advice from the CNM2 as appropriate. Ensure that delegation is appropriate to the skill level and knowledge of the individual to whom the task is delegated. Engage in continuing professional development by keeping up to date with nursing literature, recent nursing research and new developments in nursing management, education and practice and to attend staff study days as considered appropriate. Provide a high level of professional and clinical leadership. Provide supervision and assist in the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes of staff and assigned students. Ensure that modern standards of clinical nursing care are in operation and that regular monitoring of Nursing and Para-nursing care is undertaken through audit. Use the outcomes of audit to develop action plans and support their implementation. Foster a culture of audit and action based outcomes. Key Performance Indicators: The extent to which there is patient satisfaction with Nursing /Para-nursing care. The extent to which good working relationships are fostered and maintained throughout the nursing service and between nursing and other disciplines. Eligibility Criteria: Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses kept by An Bord Altranais/Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)or be entitled to be so registered. Have at least 3 years post registration fulltime experience (or an aggregate of 3 years post registration full time experience) of which 1 year post registration full time experience (or an aggregate of 1 years post registration full time experience) must be in the speciality or related area. Provide evidence of clinical and professional managerial ability, leadership, communication and organizational skills. Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
