Servisource is currently recruiting an Assistant Staff Officer for a public sector

Contract length: Temporary

Salary: €18.76/h

Working hours: 28h weekly - 4 days per week

Location: Mullingar, Ireland

Duties, responsibilities and skills

1. Participate as part of a 4 way Roster of Clerical Duties. Responsible for rotation designated to you by the supervisor. Prioritise workload as necessary, ensuring the efficient running of the laboratory office and services.
2. Covid Roster. Responsible for all duties listed on Covid Roster.
3. In the absence of the Staff Officer, look after clerical aspects of the work of the Consultant Pathologist, who works throughout the Midlands area. You may be required to deputise for Laboratory Staff Officer Grade V from time to time.
4. Liaising in this regard with Gardai, Coroners, bereaved relatives, and various hospital personnel.
5. Liaising with senior scientific staff regarding the training of scientific students in the area of demographic entry and general office procedure, including the preparation of schedules for re-training.
6. Responsible for SAP stores requests, including stock control, for general laboratory items, including office supplies.
7. Dealing directly with the members of the Public/patients.
8. As required, address problems with the laboratory computer technology in consultation with the Chief Scientist, Pathologist and with support from IMS participate in the development and implementation of a computer-integrated management system for the laboratory.
9. Ensure file storage and record keeping in accordance with record retention/record management policies.
10. Solving routine problems and making decisions within clearly defined policies.
11. Facilitate arrangements, where appropriate, for introducing professional and/or other visitors to the laboratory.
12. Ensuring good working relationships and communication within the department and to the next level of the organisation.
13. Ensuring a high level of confidentiality is maintained.
14. To ensure that the work of the department complies with Freedom of Information requirements.
15. The post holder will liaise with the General Manager, Patient Services Manager, Business Managers, Consultants, Nurse Managers, Heads of Departments, Assistant Staff Officers, Technical and Haemovigilance staff as appropriate.
16. For specific rotational duties refer to current Form M/0/3 –M/0/6 Roster 1 - 4.
17. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
