Roles & Responsibilities Take full ownership of the Bangor branch, managing sales, operations, and overall profitability while ensuring the site's continued growth and success.
Lead, support, and motivate the internal branch team including counter sales, customer service, and operations staff.
Foster strong relationships with trade and retail customers, visiting key clients regularly to maintain trust and identify new business opportunities.
Monitor branch performance against KPIs, ensuring high standards in sales, service delivery, and operational efficiency.
Collaborate closely with the Commercial Director and senior management to implement branch improvement plans and maximise revenue potential.
Oversee stock control, health and safety, and compliance processes to maintain smooth, safe day-to-day operations.
Encourage team engagement and development through mentoring and regular feedback, ensuring a positive working environment with high staff retention.
Represent the company professionally within the local construction and DIY community, promoting brand reputation and values.
Drive branch growth by identifying untapped opportunities within a competitive and relatively static housing market.
Essential Criteria & Qualifications Minimum of 2-5 years' experience within a builders merchant or related construction supply environment.
Proven track record in branch or sales management, ideally within a multi-faceted business combining trade, retail, and operational elements.
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to run the branch as if it were your own business, balancing sales, service, and operational priorities.
Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills with the ability to connect with both builders and homeowners.
Demonstrated trading ability, comfortable negotiating with customers, setting pricing structures, and achieving profit targets.
Local knowledge of the Bangor area or nearby regions is highly desirable.
Hands-on leadership approach: willing to engage with customers, support staff on the shop floor, and ensure the branch runs efficiently.
IT-literate with experience using sales and reporting systems to track performance.
Full UK driving licence What's On Offer Competitive salary of £40,000-£45,000 (DOE).
Company car plus annual incentive bonus of up to £12,000, with on-target earnings exceeding £60,000.
