With over 120 dealers and over 70,000 customers, Volkswagen Financial Services Ireland has quickly become the largest car finance provider in Ireland.Job DescriptionReporting to the Head of Accounting, a vacancy has arisen for a Senior Financial Accountant to join the Accounting team, the role holder is responsible for group and local statutory financial reporting and taxation activities whilst ensuring all activities pertaining to the role are performed accurately, compliantly and timely whilst adhering to IFRS accounting standards & Irish fiscal standards as well as internal, HQ and external deadlines.Key ResponsibilitiesThe role holder is responsible for preparation of the group consolidated and local statutory financial statements, notes to account, the role holder will be the primary contact with the external auditors and is responsible for the co-ordination with external auditors during the audit process, evaluation of internal controls, and ensures compliance with all financial regulations. Additionally, they communicate financial results and insights to senior management and audit committee providing clear and concise reports and presentations. Overall, this role is essential for maintaining the integrity and reliability of the organization's financial reporting.The role holder is also responsible for ensuring that an organisation complies with all tax regulations and laws. This role involves reviewing monthly payroll journals, filing tax returns, developing tax strategies to minimize liabilities, and conducting research on tax issues to provide informed recommendations to management.Additionally the role holder will assist with tax audits, prepares tax provisions for financial statements, and maintains accurate tax records. They also play a key role in identifying and mitigating tax risks, staying updated on changes in tax laws, and communicating effectively with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory authorities.Overall, the role is crucial for managing the organization's tax-related activities and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.Financial Reporting - Audit managementStatutory reporting: Responsible for conducting the annual closing operations of the entity, reconciling local financial statements with group consolidation financial statements, and compiling schedules for all notes to the accounts. This includes reconciling multi-ledger activities that pertain to the overall profit and loss statement and balance sheet of the entityAudit Communication: Principal point of contact for liaising with external auditors, management, and other internal stakeholders to facilitate the audit process and ensure all requirements are met in a timely manner. Maintain effective communication with external auditors during the audit process, providing necessary documentation and explanations to facilitate a smooth audit.Audit Committee: Compile and present audit reports, highlighting key findings and recommendations.Internal Controls Evaluation: Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend improvements where necessary.
