Electrical Engineer Job Overview
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team. This is a challenging opportunity for someone with experience in the power transmission and distribution industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and review of primary plant layout, cable arrangements, earthing, lightning, compound and indoor lighting, instrument transformer sizing, protection schemes, and IED selection.
- C&P panel design, AIS busbar and connector detailed design and review for HV substations.
- Provide engineering design input to major electrical power infrastructure projects through all lifecycle stages, from feasibility to detailed design, site construction monitoring, and commissioning.
- Coordinate with client project teams and internal disciplines including civil, structural, environmental, survey/geotechnical, transport, protection, control, and CAD/BIM teams.
- Review drawings, specifications, and schedules to ensure compliance with standards and industry guides.
- Perform HV plant design calculations, including instrument transformer suitability, battery and charger sizing, surge arrester selection, busbar forces, HV cable design, earthing studies, insulation, and protective relay coordination.
- Understand major HV plant equipment such as AIS and GIS platforms, circuit breakers, transformers, disconnectors, earthing switches, control and protection panels, metalclad switchgears, and protective devices.
Requirements:
- Experience in the power transmission and distribution industry.
- Degree qualification, ideally progressing towards Chartered Engineer status.
- Experience across all project lifecycle stages.
- Knowledge of regulatory and client-specific health and safety requirements for HV plant systems.
- Proficiency in technical report writing in English.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Services Engineering, or Building Services Engineering (Level 7 or 8).
- Proficiency in engineering software such as Dialux, Relux, Amtech, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
