Teach Tearmainn is a registered charity dedicated to providing a suite of free and confidential support services to women and children across County Kildare who are experiencing domestic violence and abuse. Teach Tearmainn provide a range of support services designed to support and empower women and children.

Children and young person support service - One to one and group supports available.

Teach Tearmainn are seeking to recruit prospective Directors who are passionate about women and children's rights who are committed to the elimination of Domestic abuse and violence against women and children.
We are currently seeking a Board Director with experience in some of the following:
* Ensuring compliance with the Charity Regulator's Governance Code.
* Ensuring Teach Tearmainn is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit.
* Developing and monitoring effective risk management strategies for Teach Tearmainn.
* Developing and monitoring internal systems that are transparent and accountable to stakeholders.
* Providing general expertise on all matters relating to corporate governance and Law.
* Knowledge & understanding of the Domestic Violence/not for profit sector.
* A strong commitment to improving the lives of women and children impacted by domestic abuse.
Essential Experience, Skills And Personal Qualities
* Minimum five years’ professional experience in a legal expertise role, e.g., a Qualified Solicitor or Barrister.
* Strong business acumen and the ability to understand complex corporate governance issues and risk quickly.
* To have previous experience in change management processes in guiding organisational change including planning, implementing and solidifying changes in an organisation.
* Strong communication and relationship building skills.
* Applicants for this role will preferably have experience of membership of a Board of Directors.
* Board Director will provide input to the strategic direction of the Organisation and contributing with insight, oversight, and experience of strategy formulation in the sector.
Charities Regulator’s General Duties of a Charity Trustee
* Comply with the Charity’s governing document.
* Ensuring charity is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit.
* Acting in the best interest of the charity
* Act with Reasonable Care and Skill
* Manage the assets of your charity.
Board Meetings
Board meetings are scheduled annually and take place approximately every 6 weeks. These meetings usually take place in person in Naas or Kildare Town.
Board Sub-Committee meetings are also usually held online.
