About the project
Infrastructure Services is seeking a junior to mid‑level Mechanical Design Engineer to join the mechanical engineering team. This role will support the EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) design engineering group, working closely with senior engineers and stakeholders across design, construction, and sustainability to contribute to new‑build data centre designs across the region. In this position, you’ll work on multi‑million‑dollar projects that serve a wide range of businesses and customers, where creativity, efficiency, and high‑quality engineering are strongly encouraged.
If you can design mechanical systems, understand critical equipment requirements for data centres, and appreciate the constructability of various design approaches, you may be a strong fit. This role is based in the Dublin office with a fixed 5‑day‑per‑week schedule, and all office space, tools, computational resources, and support will be fully provided.
Key Responsibilities
Support general HVAC/ Mechanical design activities for critical infrastructure within new build data centres across EMEA.
Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
Review and approve equipment submittals.
Manage design consultancy firms to create, review and release data centre designs.
Work with internal teams to understand user requirements.
Work with internal teams to trouble shoot problems and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action (CA) for design related problems.
Define project scopes and provide support during construction phases.
Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the appropriate mechanical equipment.
Travel for site review and conduct engineering evaluations, audits, and site launches.
Participate in knowledge‑sharing, learn company‑specific standards.
Be positive and always offer creative, out of the box solutions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering or related field.
5+ years’ experience in HVAC, data centre cooling, electronics cooling, or building services.
Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data centre equipment and facilities.
Ability to carry new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment/construction.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to perform complex business case analysis to justify technical decisions and present the justification to management in a high level review.
Preferred Qualifications
Chartered Engineer with Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience directly related to data centre or mission critical facility design such as Pharmaceutical, Hospital or Semi‑Conductor projects. Understanding of BIM & CFD modelling.
Previous consultant negotiation and management skills associated with design, construction and project execution.
Experience with fast track design/build projects and or multiple significant upgrade projects.
Experience with large scale technical operations or large‑scale compute farms. Knowledge of building codes and regulations.
