Job Title: Forestry Operative Location: West & North West Ireland (own transport essential) About the Company: Stephen Colhouns company is a well-established forestry and land management provider known for high-quality workmanship, reliability, and strong safety standards. Operating across rural and remote areas, the team delivers services including forestry maintenance, planting, land preparation, and environmental management. Due to ongoing growth, we are seeking a motivated Forestry Operative to join the team. Role Overview: The Forestry Operative will work across multiple forestry sites, supporting day-to-day operations such as planting, maintenance, and groundwork. This is an outdoor role on rural and elevated sites, often involving clear-felled areas with lines of stumps and brash. The role requires physical fitness, resilience, and the ability to work in all weather conditions. Key Responsibilities: Manually plant trees using a planting spade Carry out spraying with knapsack and fertilizing as required Perform general maintenance of existing plantations, including grass clearing and filling in gaps Follow all company health & safety procedures and site-specific guidelines Undertake manual handling tasks and outdoor physical work in all weather conditions Travel daily to various sites across the west and north west Work as part of a small, professional team delivering high-quality results Report any site issues, hazards, or equipment needs to the supervisor Requirements: Physically fit and accustomed to manual outdoor work Highly motivated and able to earn well through individual effort (paid per tree) Previous experience in forestry, landscaping, agriculture, or outdoor manual work (preferred but not essential) Willingness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather Full driving licence essential Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team Safe Pass, Manual Handling, or relevant forestry certificates (advantageous; training provided) Ideally residing in the west or north west to minimise travel What We Offer: Competitive pay structure (per tree) with opportunity to earn based on effort Training provided on-site Physically and financially rewarding work Opportunity to join a professional, safety-focused team in a growing company
