The Role
As a Microbiology Analyst at CLS, you will play a key role in supporting GMP-regulated manufacturing environments through routine microbiological testing and laboratory support activities.
Working as part of the microbiology team and under the direction of the Microbiology Lab Supervisor, you will be responsible for performing a range of microbiological tests in accordance with GMP and ISO ***** requirements.
This is a hands-on laboratory role suited to individuals with a strong interest in microbiology, contamination control, and quality compliance within pharmaceutical and medical device environments.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine microbiological testing including bioburden, endotoxin, sterility, environmental monitoring, and water testing in line with approved procedures.
Carry out environmental monitoring activities including viable and non-viable monitoring of cleanrooms and controlled environments.
Perform surface, air, personnel, and water sampling as required.
Prepare, incubate, read, and interpret microbiological samples and culture media.
Accurately document and record laboratory results in LIMS and laboratory documentation systems.
Ensure all testing and documentation are completed in compliance with GMP, GDP, and laboratory procedures.
Support investigations relating to out-of-specification (OOS) results, deviations, non-conformances, and environmental excursions.
Assist with laboratory housekeeping, equipment checks, stock control, and media preparation activities.
Support method validations, qualifications, and laboratory continuous improvement initiatives.
Participate in internal audits, customer audits, and quality system activities as required.
Collaborate effectively with internal teams and customers to ensure timely and accurate reporting of results.
Contribute to Lean Laboratory and continuous improvement initiatives.
Who You Are
You are a motivated QC Microbiology Analyst with experience or a strong interest in microbiological testing within GMP-regulated environments.
You are detail-oriented, organised, and committed to maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
You work well within a team and are eager to continue developing your technical expertise across a broad range of microbiology laboratory activities.
Where You Come From
A third-level qualification in Microbiology or a related scientific discipline.
A minimum of 1 year experience in a microbiology or GMP laboratory environment.
Experience in microbiological testing such as environmental monitoring, bioburden, endotoxin, sterility, or water testing would be advantageous.
Familiarity with GMP and regulatory requirements (FDA / EU GMP), or a strong willingness to develop expertise in this area.
Strong attention to detail, good organisational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
