Lucan School of Music is seeking a Pre-Instrumental teacher for Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Our school aims to foster a warm and welcoming environment and provide a positive environment for students of all ages to pursue their goals, whether for exams or for fun. After 19 years at our school, our pre-instrumental music teacher has decided to retire. Her classes have been a cornerstone at our school and have given many students the understanding to continue on to an instrument by building a solid foundation with the building blocks of music. Her classes have been a blend of Kodály musicianship, songs, games and ukulele for the older classes, and for continuity we are seeking someone that can follow on with a similar approach.
Responsibilities
Weekly group music classes on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings for children age 3-8
Lesson planning and sourcing age appropriate material for each age group
Updating parents on students progress as students arrive / leave
End of term demonstrations
Qualifications
The ideal candidate would have experience with teaching groups of younger children.A third level qualification in music is essential.Someone familiar with Kodály principles of teaching would be preferred, as this would be consistent with the way the previous teacher taught the class. We can only consider applicants who are available on both Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings, as we need the same teacher to cover both days.
