Overview
Clinical Tutor in Patient Centred Care (Medical Doctor background) 0.5 FTE, Permanent, Contract Type A, in the Direct Entry Medicine Programme, Part-time (0.5FTE). The post is within the School of Medicine, University of Galway.
Applications are invited for the appointment as Clinical Tutor in Patient Centred Care in the Direct Entry Medicine Programme, Part-time (0.5FTE), Permanent post, in the School of Medicine, University of Galway. The successful candidate will join the Discipline of Medical Education (DME) and work collaboratively with Clinical Tutor colleagues from Health & Social Care Professional or Nursing backgrounds.
Salary: €82,195 to €100,597 pro rata p.a (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011). This appointment will be made on the Clinical Tutor 2 scale in line with current Government pay policy and in accordance with the University Remuneration policy. Closing date for applications is 17:00 (Irish Time) on Thursday 6th November 2025.

Responsibilities
* Provide clinical teaching and supervision for medical students within the Direct Entry Medicine Programme, with emphasis on patient-centred care.
* Develop and deliver content related to the patient in the healthcare system and professional practice.
* Collaborate with peers in Medical Education to support curriculum development, teaching and assessment methodologies, and student research.
* Contribute to quality assurance and programme delivery in a team with colleagues from interprofessional backgrounds.
* Participate in leadership, governance and service activities within the Department of Medical Education and the School of Medicine.
Qualifications
* Medical qualification with demonstrated experience in interprofessional teamwork within the Irish Healthcare system.
* Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
* Strong track record in medical student teaching and/or clinical placement supervision.
* Ability to contribute to development and delivery of new content for the revised Direct Entry Programme.
About the Department and Programme
The post holder will sit in the Department of Medical Education (DME). The DME is one of 14 academic disciplines in the School of Medicine and supports the Undergraduate Medical Programme in curriculum development, quality assurance, faculty training in teaching and assessment methodologies, clinical science and practice facilitation, student research, and leadership.
The DME also offers postgraduate programmes including the PG Diploma and MSc in Health Professions’ Clinically Education, with supervision of masters students and development of doctoral research capacity.
