The Role
We are looking for a Senior Corporate Counsel – Labor & Employment (EME) who will primarily focus on labor & employment matters for Jabil's locations in Europe and the Middle East. This role reports to the Senior Associate General Counsel, Global Labor & Employment, and operates as an integral member of Jabil's Global Labor & Employment Law team in the Legal Department. This position may be based in Dublin, Ireland, the United Kingdom, or possibly at any of Jabil's other locations in Europe. Remote work is also available.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide pragmatic advice and counsel to Human Resources, Employee Relations, and other internal business partners on a wide variety of labor & employment matters across the EME region, including: recruiting and hiring; employee relations/grievances; labor relations; discipline and terminations; internal investigations; leaves of absence; discrimination, harassment, and mobbing issues; diversity, equity, and inclusion; employee transfers and immigration issues; contingent worker issues; employee data privacy issues; compensation and benefits; employment litigation and dispute resolution; and negotiated exits and settlements.
* Support workforce redundancies, reorganizations, and employee separations.
* Actively monitor new laws, legal decisions, statutory changes, and industry trends; provide legal training for HR and other cross-functional business partners and keep them abreast of new legal developments in the region.
* Review, draft, and update a variety of employment agreements, separation agreements, and other employment-related policies, procedures, and employee handbooks/manuals.
* Support and/or conduct investigations of internal employee complaints, including strong partnership and collaboration with HR, Compliance, and Litigation Departments, as applicable.
* Support, advise on, and implement legal obligations with respect to Works Council/ European Works Councils/Trade Unions across the EME region.
* Manage and support labor & employment litigation and arbitration matters in Europe, in conjunction with Human Resources, the Litigation Department, and external counsel.
* Recommend and drive best practices.
* Support various projects and initiatives, such as M&A due diligence, integration, and site closures.
* May perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge & Requirements
* Solid understanding and advisory skills on labor & employment laws and matters in the EME region. Experienced in addressing and resolving complex and sensitive employee relations and compliance issues.
* Expertise in European Union labor & employment law, with practical experience translating EU Directives into workable country-by-country employment practices, policies, and documentation across multiple jurisdictions.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Fluency in a second European language is desirable but not necessary.
* Strong work ethic, business acumen with business-oriented approach to problem solving, ability to prioritize and manage competing demands.
* Ability to work both autonomously and as a team player under pressure in a fast-paced corporate environment.
* Ability to build strong and effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders across different functions and cultures.
* Highly motivated and enthusiastic with demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and integrity, even in the face of difficult or challenging situations.
* This role is not required to manage other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management).
* Law degree from an accredited university.
* Admission/qualification to practice law in the UK or an EU jurisdiction.
* Minimum of 7+ years of post-qualification legal experience with a significant focus on EU/EMEA labor & employment law. A combination of international law firm experience and experience in a multinational corporate legal department is preferred.
* Previous experience of advising on compensation and benefits matters, in particular, on the application of remuneration regulations and pay transparency across EME, would be helpful (though not required).
