Our client, a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry based in North Dublin, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their expanding team on a 12-month contract with competitive hourly rates available. This role will lead the development and implementation of a site-wide Electrical Maintenance Program in compliance with European Electrical Standards and ETCI Regulations.
Job Responsibilities
Act as the site’s Electrical Systems subject matter expert, developing and implementing a preventative and predictive maintenance program.
Identify and document all HV, MV, and LV electrical systems and infrastructure across the site.
Create and maintain electrical hierarchy drawings for power distribution and life safety systems such as emergency lighting, fire alarms, and gas detection.
Develop and maintain preventative maintenance job plans and electrical SOPs, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
Manage and maintain accurate records of electrical assets and infrastructure, ensuring consistent labelling and traceability.
Oversee electrical safety programs, including maintenance schedules for PPE and test equipment.
Maintain electrical manuals and handover documentation, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
Lead and coordinate electrical power down/up planning to ensure compliance with GMP, safety, and minimal impact to operations.
Support electrical activities within multidisciplinary projects and act as the main contact for project electrical work.
Maintain and update Arc Flash and Short Circuit studies, signage, and ATEX documentation.
Represent the electrical program during FM Global inspections and maintain compliance across systems including:
Circuit breakers, transformers, UPS, and power quality systems
Emergency and general lighting, fire alarms, and surge protection
Security, CCTV, generators, and street lighting systems
Electrical cabinets, switch rooms, MCC drawers, and PAT testing routines
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering, or a National Craft Certificate in Electrical Engineering with a Degree in Management.
At least 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, maintenance, or facilities operations.
Experience working with maintenance or asset management systems.
Previous background in the pharmaceutical, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing sectors.
Strong knowledge of European Electrical Standards, ETCI Rules, and ATEX compliance requirements.
Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across functions.
