Design Engineer Opportunity
A sought-after Design Engineer is needed to join our client's Engineering & Design Team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in developing detailed mechanical building services designs, including HVAC, ventilation, hydronic systems, public health services, and specialist mechanical plant.
Responsibilities:
1. Design Development: Produce detailed designs and calculations for building services, including airflow, heat load, psychrometrics, pressure drops, pipe and duct sizing, and system performance modelling.
2. Technical Documentation: Prepare coordinated technical drawings, schematics, schedules, and specifications in collaboration with BIM and CAD teams.
3. Sustainability and Efficiency: Assist in the development of energy-efficient and sustainable design strategies, optimising system layouts and equipment selections to meet project performance goals.
4. Review and Coordination: Review design information, identify risks or coordination challenges, and propose engineering solutions to ensure buildability and compliance.
5. Collaboration and Communication: Participate in design team meetings, technical workshops, and coordination sessions with architects, structural engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
6. Tender and Procurement: Support the tender and procurement process by preparing technical submissions, evaluating mechanical equipment proposals, and reviewing supplier documentation.
7. Site Visits and Commissioning: Carry out site visits to verify design intent, review installations, and support commissioning activities when required.
8. Compliance and Quality: Ensure all design documentation meets regulatory requirements, internal quality standards, and project-specific technical criteria.
9. Continuous Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes, engineering standards, and technical innovation across the mechanical building services discipline.
