Procurement Manager

Overview
This role is responsible for leading procurement and supply chain activities to support operational efficiency, cost control, and long-term business objectives. The position owns purchasing strategy, supplier management, inventory control, and supply chain risk mitigation, while developing a high-performing procurement team and ensuring compliance with corporate policies and regulatory standards.
Working closely with Operations leadership, the role ensures materials availability, system accuracy, and continuous improvement across sourcing, planning, and inventory processes.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Supply Chain Strategy
1. Define and execute a procurement and supply chain strategy aligned with business goals, growth plans, and operational requirements.
2. Partner with senior leadership to ensure supply chain activities support the organisation's long-term direction.
3. Monitor market conditions, demand trends, and supply risks to inform strategic decision-making.
4. Act as the functional lead for ERP/MRP systems within the materials function.
Team Leadership & Development
5. Lead, coach, and develop procurement and inventory team members to build capability, accountability, and engagement.
6. Promote continuous professional development and best practices across purchasing and materials management.
Supplier & Sourcing Management
7. Rationalise and manage the approved supplier base while strengthening key supplier partnerships.
8. Negotiate supplier agreements to achieve competitive pricing, quality, delivery, and service standards.
9. Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers, including secondary sources to protect continuity of supply.
10. Drive strategic sourcing initiatives in direct support of manufacturing operations.
Procurement & Inventory Control
11. Oversee all purchasing and inventory transactions to ensure policy compliance and system accuracy.
12. Plan material requirements based on production schedules, forecasts, and inventory targets.
13. Optimise inventory levels to balance service, cost, and working capital objectives.
Risk, Performance & Continuous Improvement
14. Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, developing contingency and business continuity plans as required.
15. Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for material or supplier-related issues.
16. Establish and track KPIs, reporting performance, trends, and improvement opportunities to management.
17. Use data and analytics to reduce cost, improve reliability, and remove bottlenecks.
Compliance & Sustainability
18. Ensure adherence to all company policies, ISO quality standards, and safety and environmental regulations.
19. Embed sustainability principles into sourcing and supply chain activities, working with suppliers to reduce environmental impact and support responsible sourcing.
