Job Summary The Receptionist is the first point of contact for residents, families, visitors, and vendors at our busy nursing home.
This role is critical in creating a welcoming, professional, and compassionate environment while efficiently managing front-desk operations, high call volumes, and administrative support in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Please note this is a part time role, working 5pm-8pm shift 3 days a week.
Key Responsibilities Greet residents, families, visitors, and staff in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner Manage a high volume of incoming phone calls, directing inquiries appropriately and taking accurate messages Monitor visitor sign-in/sign-out procedures in compliance with facility policies and safety regulations Provide general information about the facility while maintaining resident confidentiality Coordinate communication between nursing staff, administration, families, and external providers Perform administrative tasks including filing, data entry, copying, scanning, and distributing mail Maintain the reception area to ensure it is clean, organized, and welcoming at all times Respond calmly and effectively to urgent situations, escalating concerns to appropriate staff Support emergency procedures and follow facility protocols during incidents Order and manage front-desk supplies Qualifications Requirements Previous receptionist or administrative experience required Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and interruptions in a busy environment Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate and patient-centered approach Proficiency with basic office software (Microsoft Office, email, phone systems) Understanding of confidentiality requirements in a healthcare setting Professional appearance and demeanor Skills Competencies Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to remain calm under pressure Attention to detail and accuracy Empathy and professionalism when interacting with residents and families Reliability and punctuality
