Ancillary Building Construction Engineer - KENAIDAN/MURPHY JOINT VENTURE (Greater Toronto Area, ON)

Kenaidan and Murphy are excited to announce a joint venture dedicated to bringing global innovation to infrastructure projects across Ontario.

Project Overview:
The Bloor-Yonge CapacityImprovements Project is a significant undertaking by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) to expand and modernize Bloor-Yonge station – Canada’s busiest subway hub. This initiative is focused on meeting both current and future ridership needs by improving the station’s efficiency, capacity, and accessibility.

The Kenaidan Murphy Joint Venture (KMJV) is committed to transforming the station to enable faster, more reliable, and more comfortable travel throughout the Greater Toronto Area. The project will deliver upgraded facilities, contributing to a safer, cleaner, and higher-capacity subway system for passengers.

Ancillary Building Construction Engineer

The Ancillary Building Construction Engineer is responsible for converting design concepts into practical construction solutions while ensuring technical consistency with project specifications,

How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

* Collaborate with design consultants, technical advisors, and internal stakeholders to review, analyze, and provide input on the design of ancillary buildings.
* Identify constructability issues early in the design phase and provide engineering solutions to support cost-effective and timely construction.
* Assist with developing construction methodologies, sequencing, and interface coordination strategies with other systems and civil works.
* Support the development of technical specifications, design criteria, and scope packages related to ancillary buildings.
* Participate in technical design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering meetings.
* Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements and local authority standards.
* Contribute to construction planning, site logistics, and integration strategies during pre-construction activities.
* Interface with permitting authorities and support the development of permit applications and documentation.

Education and Experience:

* Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural, or Building Engineering.
* Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario or eligibility to obtain.
* 5+ years of relevant experience in building design and construction, ideally within the rail/transit or large-scale infrastructure sector.
* Experience working on design-build or progressive design-build projects is preferred.
* Familiarity with building codes, systems integration, and multi-disciplinary design coordination.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise between design teams, construction teams, and stakeholders.
