Overview
GEDON Executive is partnering with a Tier 2 Civils Contractor in their search for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Cork, Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused professional to manage a portfolio of projects spanning Education, Infrastructure, and Groundworks, with values typically up to €20M.
Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be integral to the commercial success of projects from tender through to final account. You'll work closely with the site and operational teams, ensuring all contractual and financial aspects are managed effectively to maximise profitability and minimise risk.
Responsibilities
* Financial Control: Prepare and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and accurate Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
* Subcontractor Management: Manage the full lifecycle of sub-contracts, including drafting enquiries, tender analysis, negotiation, interim payments, and final account settlement.
* Valuations & Claims: Prepare and submit accurate monthly valuations/payment applications to the client/PQS, and ensure timely resolution of claims and variations.
* Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify and manage commercial and contractual risks, particularly those associated with ground conditions and infrastructure interfaces.
* Contract Administration: Assist in the administration of the main contract, ensuring strict compliance with contractual obligations (e.g., FIDIC, GCCC, RIAI).
* Reporting: Produce clear and detailed commercial reports for senior management review.
What You'll Bring
* Proven Experience: Demonstrable experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within a Civils or Main Contractor environment in Ireland.
* Sector Expertise: Direct experience with Infrastructure, Groundworks, or Education projects is highly beneficial.
* Commercial Acumen: Strong numerical and analytical skills with a meticulous approach to cost control and financial reporting.
* Contractual Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of Irish construction contracts (e.g., GCCC, RIAI).
* Communication: Excellent communication and negotiation skills for effective liaison with the supply chain and clients.
* Qualifications: A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
