As a Construction Engineer – Nightworks, you'll be at the heart of an exciting infrastructure project in Dublin, based at an airport. Join our dynamic team and make a differenceThe Construction Engineer – Nightworks will be responsible for the planning, supervision, and technical execution of construction activities carried out during night‑time operations on a live, operational airport environment. Reporting to the Construction Manager, the role ensures that all nightworks are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project, contractual, and airport operational requirements, while minimizing disruption to airport activities.Predominantly night‑shift based role within a live operational airport with high interaction with airport operations, safety teams, subcontractors, and site management and strict adherence to aviation security, safety, and operational protocolsAbout Us: At Sacyr UK and Ireland, we're passionate about creating a better world through our projects. If this sounds like you, and you can demonstrate the required skills and experience, we want to hear from you.Our benefits:34 days' annual leaveEmployee Assistance ProgrammeLife assurance – 4x annual salaryPension scheme (details above)Cycle to Work schemeEye care vouchers – eye tests and glasses where required, including safety eyewearAnnual health checks with Randox Health, including half-yearly check-insEnhanced annual leaveCompany-funded language lessons – Spanish/EnglishCompany-funded training: training, certifications, and memberships in accredited bodies related to the positionLighthouse Club membershipDiscount shopping vouchersOpportunity for additional professional developmentAnd more benefits to be implementedKey Responsibilities include:Nightworks Planning & DeliveryPlan, coordinate, and implement night‑time construction activities in accordance with approved programmes and possession windowsEnsure that nightworks are executed in line with approved method statements, risk assessments, and permitsSupervise site activities during night shifts, ensuring productivity, quality, and safety targets are achievedEnsure proper handover between day and night shift teamsSite Engineering & Technical SupportProvide on‑site engineering support for nightworks, including setting out, checking works, and resolving technical issuesEnsure construction works comply with drawings, specifications, and design approvalsManage technical queries that arise during night operations and escalate where necessaryMaintain accurate records of works completed during night shiftsHealth, Safety & Airport ComplianceMaintain full compliance with airport safety rules, airside permits, and operational constraintsEnforce safe systems of work during night operations, including fatigue management and reduced‑visibility controlsParticipate in toolbox talks, night briefings, and safety observationsEnsure emergency procedures and communications are understood and in place for night operationsCoordination & InterfacesCoordinate with airport operations, airside management, and project stakeholders to ensure nightworks align with approved access arrangementsManage subcontractors and suppliers working night shiftsLiaise closely with the Construction Manager and Site Management team regarding progress, issues, and upcoming worksCoordinate logistics, plant, and materials for night operations Quality Assurance & DocumentationEnsure nightworks comply with quality requirements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and project standardsRecord progress, inspections, and any non‑conformances identified during night operationsMaintain daily nightwork reports, shift logs, and progress updatesSupport as‑built documentation and handover recordsProgramme & ReportingTrack progress of nightworks against short‑term and overall programme milestonesIdentify risks, constraints, and opportunities for improvement in night‑time operationsProvide clear written and verbal reports to the Construction Manager following night shiftsContribute to recovery planning and resequencing of works where requiredEssential criteria:Legal right to work in the Republic of IrelandWillingness to complete a 5-year background screening as part of the hiring processDegree in Industrial, mechanical or Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related disciplineProven experience in a site or construction engineering role, preferably involving nightworksExperience working in live operational environments with strict safety and access controlsStrong knowledge of method statements, risk assessments, and permit systemsStrong understanding of construction sequencing and site operationsAbility to manage works in time‑restricted and safety‑critical environmentsExcellent communication and coordination skills, particularly during shift handoversHigh level of safety awareness and decision‑making under pressureStrong organisational skills and attention to detailAbility to work autonomously during night shiftsDesirable criteria:Experience working in an airport, rail, or other 24/7 operational infrastructure environmentFamiliarity with Irish construction standards and proceduresSafe Pass and applicable airport security clearances (or ability to obtain)Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors during out‑of‑hours worksIn return, you will be working on a high profile 'once in a lifetime' project where you will be supported by a collaborative team in a learning environment.
