Overview
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland works across the country in the heart of local communities providing dementia specific services and supports and advocating for the rights and needs of all people living with dementia and their carers. Our vision is an Ireland where people on the journey of dementia are valued and supported. The ASI is a national non-profit organisation, person centred, rights-based and grassroots led with the voice of the person with dementia and their carer at its core. The ASI is currently recruiting a Homecare Worker for our Galway Home Care Service with offices based in Bungalow 1, Kilcornan, Clarinbridge, Galway, H91 XN93. The successful candidates will work in assigned family homes across Renmore, Co. Galway.
This is a permanent contract of employment working 24 hours each per week.
Responsibilities
* Provide person centred care to people with dementia in the client’s own home.
* Demonstrate good communication and organisational skills and be able to work on your own initiative.
* Ideally, speak Irish, as this is an Irish-speaking area.
* Undertake social and cognitive stimulation activities with people with dementia, older people or people with intellectual disabilities.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Full clean driving licence and access to a car are essential.
* FETAC level 5 is desirable.
* Confidence in using IT/Email is desirable.
