Senior Automation Engineer Opportunity

Celestica offers a unique opportunity for an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our automation group, you will be responsible for designing and implementing automated manufacturing systems for our high-volume production lines.

Responsibilities include:
">
* Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for high-volume manufacturing processes
* Lead the planning, execution, and commissioning of automation projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation system issues, minimizing downtime and maximizing production output
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and maintenance, to optimize manufacturing processes
* Work closely with industry leading suppliers to evaluate and recommend new automation technologies and equipment to improve efficiency and reduce costs
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technicians
* Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements for automated systems
* Conduct performance analysis and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance automation system reliability
* Develop tooling for a comprehensive set of complex machines and mechanical process steps within a manufacturing sector
* Assess the capabilities of machines and process applications using Design of Experiments
* Understand and provide feedback on customer's technical requirements to team members and management
* Project Management - Ability to manage/lead complex, multiple line engineering projects that may also involve other functions
* Demonstrate solid understanding of the technical, financial and people aspects of the project
* Able to create a project/change management plan and ensure that the project is delivered within the assigned time and budget
* Ability to recognize project barriers and develop mitigation plans

Requirements include:
">
* Strong proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley), HMI development, and SCADA systems
* Experience with robotics, vision systems, and other automation technologies
* Experience of machine safety and associated regulations from equipment design through documentation
* Understanding of technical mechanical drawings and experience of documentation of hardware and software designs suitable for implementation in a regulated industry
* Mechanical and/or electrical hands-on experience in troubleshooting, diagnosing and guiding technicians to repair a complex machine in a high-volume environment
* Ability to initiate and lead change, collaborate and create alignment, drive accountability, think critically and make sound decisions
* Previous experience with customer Management and a knowledge of customer and regulatory requirements
* Previous experience of coaching and mentoring junior engineers

Typical Education includes:

* Degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Automation with a 5+ years' relevant experience
* Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience
