* Remuneration: Academic Level A or B: $91,381 – $127,947 per annum (pro‑rata, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading)

About UNSW Rural
UNSW Rural delivers the full six‑year medical course at rural clinical campuses, providing face‑to‑face teaching that builds strong relationships between students and the local medical community. The program supports the Australian Government’s Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) for over 25 years.
Role Overview
The Associate Lecturer / Lecturer will contribute to the undergraduate medical course through teaching biomedical sciences and managing laboratory operations at the rural clinical campus. Key responsibilities include teaching, laboratory set‑up, technical support, equipment maintenance, compliance, safety records, and inventory management. A passion for rural health education and a commitment to community outcomes are essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver undergraduate biomedical science content, including anatomy, physiology, genetics, immunology, biochemistry, histology, pharmacology, cell and molecular biology, microbiology, research methodology, and statistics.
* Provide laboratory management and technical support: set‑up, pack‑down, resolve technical issues, maintain equipment, coordinate servicing, and manage inventories.
* Ensure laboratory compliance with safety regulations and maintain documentation.
* Support and mentor students in laboratory procedures and safety.
* Collaborate with teaching staff and contribute to educational initiatives at the campus.
Key Skills & Qualifications
* BMed, MBBS, or equivalent undergraduate degree in medical sciences, or PhD in a relevant field with relevant experience.
* Up‑to‑date discipline knowledge and a commitment to professional development in teaching practice.
* Demonstrated experience in effective biomedical science teaching and a commitment to rural education.
* Experience in laboratory management, regulatory compliance, and safety management.
* Technical skills: equipment set‑up, chemical preparation, sample and culture development, and maintenance of laboratory hardware.
* For Level B (Lecturer): experience in large and small group teaching, use of educational technology, strong communication skills, and an emerging research interest with peer‑reviewed publications.
