About the Role:
The successful candidate will work on a research project to develop a quantitative, spatially explicit ecological risk assessment framework for development in Irish coastal waters. The framework aims to demonstrate the use of systematic spatial planning conservation methodology as a decision support system for consent authorities.
About the Project:
The researcher will collaborate with the Discipline of Geography at NUI Galway and the Socio-economic Marine Research Unit (SEMRU) to develop a comprehensive approach to marine conservation. This involves working closely with experts in the field to design a framework that balances economic and environmental considerations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop a quantitative ecological risk assessment framework for development in Irish coastal waters.
2. Collaborate with researchers from NUI Galway and SEMRU to integrate spatial planning conservation methodology into the framework.
3. Work with consent authorities to ensure the framework meets their needs as a decision support system.
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
- 3-year Postdoctoral Research Assistant position in Marine and Coastal Conservation and Management.
