Overview
We are hiring a
Health & Safety Officer
on behalf of a growing construction and manufacturing organisation in the South-East. This role will initially be
construction-focused
during a major site development phase and will transition into a long-term
operational QHSE role
once the facility becomes fully operational.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Phase
* Participate in site meetings, safety briefings, and EHS reviews
* Provide clear Health & Safety guidance to contractors and site personnel
* Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
* Ensure accurate incident reporting and follow-up actions
* Maintain all statutory and internal safety documentation
* Monitor site safety performance and report to senior management and QHSE leadership
Operational Phase
* Drive a proactive and positive Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality culture across the organisation
* Lead internal and external audits, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement
* Manage risk assessments, site inspections, and corrective action plans
* Coordinate training needs, inductions, and contractor management processes
* Oversee machinery inspections, engineering checks, and safety systems
* Prepare Health & Safety reports for senior leadership
* Maintain and manage QHSE systems in line with ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001)
* Deliver toolbox talks and company-wide safety awareness initiatives
Candidate Profile
* Experience within construction and/or manufacturing environments
* Recognised qualification in Occupational Health & Safety
* Strong working knowledge of Irish QHSE legislation and industry standards
* Experience with ISO management systems and audit processes
* Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder-engagement skills
* Ability to operate effectively at both site and senior management level
