Background
The Insight Research Ireland Centre for Data Analytics (http://www.Insight-centre.org) is a Research Ireland funded Research Centre, which brings together researchers from University College Dublin, University of Galway, University College Cork, and Dublin City University, as well as other partner institutions, Trinity College Dublin (TCD), University of Limerick (UL), Maynooth University (MU) and Tyndall National Institute. It creates a critical mass of more than 400 researchers from Ireland's leading ICT clusters to carry out research on a new generation of data analytics technologies in a number of key application domain areas, such as Health and Human Performance, Smart Communities, Internet of Things, Enterprise and Services and Sustainability and Operations.
The €150m Centre is funded by Research Ireland and a wide range of industry and European Union partners. Insight's research focus encompasses a broad range of data analytics technologies from machine learning, decision analytics and social network analysis to linked data, recommender systems and the sensor web. Together, with more than 220 partner companies, Insight researchers are solving critical challenges in the areas of Connected Health and the Discovery Economy.
Role
We are seeking a motivated and hard-working Graduate Research Assistant with experience in 3D printing and/or Raman spectroscopy to work on an exciting collaborative commercialization project in cancer diagnostics. The successful candidate will play a key role in this multidisciplinary project assisting in platform fabrication and Raman data collection.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
* Conduct a programme of research into development of Nano and microstructured materials by 2photon 3 D printing and acquisition of Raman data for AI model building
* Assist the Principal Investigators (PIs) and Senior team members in Raman data collection
* Conduct research and experiments related to 3D printing and Raman spectroscopy for cancer diagnostics.
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and develop diagnostic prototypes.
* Analyse and interpret experimental data and prepare detailed reports.
* Assist in the preparation of research publications and presentations and reports
* Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
* Develop implement and administer a robust data management strategy
* Carry out administrative work associated with the programme of research as necessary.
* Other tasks relevant to successfully implementing the assigned research programme.
* Liaise with both external and internal stakeholders, including academics, undergraduate and postgraduate students, external supervisors and host placement schools.
* Preparation of project outputs, interim and final reports as required by the project schedule.
* Deliver research outputs according to project schedules.
You must hold a primary degree (NFQ Level 8) or ideally NFQ level 9 in Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or other relevant discipline. In addition, it is desirable that candidates have at least 2 years of hands-on relevant experience in 3D printing and CAD software for 3D printing. Preference will be given to candidates who also have experience in Raman spectroscopy.

* Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proven ability to prioritize workload and work to strict deadlines.
* Ability to work in a team and to take responsibility to contribute to the overall success of the team.
* Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
The postholder will be required to undertake the following essential compliance training: Orientation, Health & Safety and Data Protection (GDPR). Other training may need to be undertaken when required.
Salary Scale: IUA Research Assistant Salary Scale - €32,962 - €42,943
Appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in line with current Government pay policy.
