This position is based in Tuam, County Galway.

This position is for a Youth Work Assistant, based in Tuam.
The aim of this programme is to provide you with the personal skills to adapt to the changing economic environment and the opportunity of acquiring knowledge in the area of Youth Work. It is particularly suited to those who would like to pursue a career working with young people and teenagers in a community based setting. You will achieve a QQI (Quality & Qualifications Ireland) qualification which is internationally recognised. This qualification will enable you to obtain employment or progress to further education.
General duties include supervision of young people from 10 to 24 in various project groups, facilitating a range of activities and programmes in Sport, Health Promotion, Education, Hobbies / Interests, Music and Regional / National Events. There will be some administration, facilitation of programmes, coaching of young people and opportunities at every turn for development
You will be required to participate in training as part of the programme. You will get opportunities to engage in various areas of youth work e.g. Mental Health, and Community Development. Training will be both on the job and training course led, with opportunities to study from QQI level 3 up to and including HETAC 7. There are also a range of developmental opportunities in the areas of Work Experience, Social and Societal Matters and General Life Skills.
Applicants with any experience (voluntary or paid) of dealing with young people in perhaps a GAA, Scouting, Youth Group, Church, or other setting would be welcomed. Also, with any specific skill sets or hobbies that would add to or benefit our youth projects, such as Sport, Music, Art, Photography, Martial Arts, Business, Tutoring, Teaching, Childminding, IT expertise, etc. It's all relevant
