Day Services Team Leader
To co-ordinate the day-to-day service delivery of the Saol Anois Day Services in line with New Directions Policy
Position Title: Day Services Team Leader
Department Name: HSE Vocational Training & Adult Day Services, Festina Lente (herein referred to as 'Services')
Reporting to:Vocational Training & Adult Day Services Manager
Based at: Festina Lente Service Location/s Bray and Dún Laoghaire (can vary based on programme activity and service member needs)
Position Goals: To ensure the effective and efficient supervision of the team members within Day Services, ensuring the highest standards of care, compliance, and service innovation
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Day Service Programme:
1. To co-ordinate the day-to-day service delivery of the Saol Anois Day Services in line with New Directions Policy together with co-ordinating continuous improvement plans as appropriate.
2. To ensure programmes are planned, delivered, reviewed and continuously developed in line with New Directions Policy.
3. Review timetables and programmes where appropriate.
4. Co-ordinating and leading the team in achieving strategic planning goals as they relate to the Adult Day Services.
5. Key working responsibilities of a small group of service members
Day Services Supervision:
6. To ensure that the men and women of the Adult Day Service have access to supports for maximising independence, learning, education and employment,
7. To ensure that weekly timetables are developed in conjunction with staff ensuring maximum efficiency in the context of available resource,
8. Ensuring behaviour support plans are developed and updated as appropriate,
9. Overseeing the timetabling of person-centered planning meetings and progress reports,
10. Ensuring that there are effective communications in place to support the smooth running of the Day Services,
11. Ensuring maximum efficiency of available resources.
12. Prepare a quarterly programme status update report for the Vocational Training and Day Services Manager.
Supervision/Staffing
13. Supervising and leading the team of community connectors, maintaining their work schedules and bi-weekly reporting on progress,
14. Mentoring and encouraging the team in terms of their personal performance as it pertains to Day Services Programme Delivery,
15. Support the recruitment and training of the team of community connector including probation assessment reviews, performance assessments and identifying skills development as part of team growth.
Resource Management
16. Managing resources effectively, including the day-to-day petty cash management in accordance with financial control procedures,
17. Co-ordination and usage of vehicles including the overseeing of vehicle maintenance.
Programme Monitoring and Evaluation
18. Conduct ongoing programme monitoring and evaluation including regular internal programme audits as well as contribute to a practice of continual improvement within your area of work,
19. Identify and collect data to measure outcomes, prepare reports as requested,
20. Contribute to the development of quality assurance systems and procedures,
21. Participate in committees as directed by Vocational Training and Day Services Manager.
22. Ensure all programme files are maintained to a high standard and in compliance with HSE and data protection regulatory requirements
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
23. Build strong relationships with Service members, families, and caregivers, ensuring clear communication and satisfaction.
24. Partner with referral sources, community organisations, and healthcare providers to enhance service offerings and continuity of care.
Training and Development
25. Carry out an identification of learner needs with each Service Member as part of their Person-Centred plan.
26. Source and co-ordinate cost effective training and development opportunities as required to support of social independence,
27. In collaboration with the Vocational Day Services Manager, identify programmes to support the ongoing skills development of team members
Health & Safety
28. Observe, report and take appropriate action on any matter which may be detrimental to service members' care or wellbeing,
29. Complete incident reporting and near miss events,
30. Complete and review risk assessments, including the development of a positive risk management plan for service members,
31. Adhere to all HSE policies and procedures and to all relevant Health & Safety legislation.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
32. Proven experience of team supervision, especially in a dynamic environment.
33. Proven experience of day services programmes that support people with disabilities or those experiencing social and/or economic exclusion in line with the National Framework of Qualifications or similar,
34. Proven experience of the implementation and evaluation of behaviour support plans
35. Strong ability to empower individuals, promoting independence and person-centred decision-making.
Education and experience:
36. An appropriate third level qualification in a related field e.g. health and social services, disability management, allied health and social care, special education and/or specialist training etc.
37. Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism and individuals with a range of support needs to include behaviours of concern,
38. Desirable: Experience with EASI Tool (Evaluation, Action and Service Improvement), in terms of continuous quality improvement under the New Directions policy.
Language: Fluent English
Work Authorisation: Ireland, required
