Job Details
* Position: Healthcare Assistant On Call
* Location: Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland (as listed in postings)
* Employment type: Full-time
* Seniority level: Entry level
* Hours: 4 or 3 days per week; 12-hour shifts, 84 hours Fortnightly; available 8 am–9 pm
* Salary/Compensation: Competitive salary starting from €33,020 to €37,128; mileage paid at €0.44 per km or use of a company vehicle
Responsibilities
* Emergency Response
o Respond promptly to urgent calls and provide immediate care and support to customers.
o Assess client needs quickly and efficiently to deliver appropriate care interventions.
o Communicate effectively with the care management team to report on the situation and actions taken.
o Adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, and any other specific approaches as laid out within the care plan to avoid confusion for the customer.
* Personal Care
o Assist customers with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
o Support customers with mobility, ensuring safe transfers and use of equipment where appropriate.
o Prompt medication as prescribed, following company policies and procedures.
o Ensure each task performed with the customer (personal care, meal preparation, etc.) is completed with dignity and respect.
* Emotional and Social Support
o Provide companionship and emotional support, encouraging social interaction and participation in activities.
o Assist with meal preparation and household tasks to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment.
* Coordination and Communication
o Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, family members, and caregivers.
o Maintain clear and timely communication with the care management team regarding concerns or updates on client care.
o Collaborate with Branch Manager and Care Coordinator teams.
Qualifications
* Essential – QQI Level 5 Health Care Award or equivalent
* Additional Training
o AMRIC Basics of Infection Prevention and Control – HSE LAND
o AMRIC Hand Hygiene – HSE LAND
o Putting on and taking off PPE in Community Healthcare – HSE LAND
* Skills
o Basic patient care: bathing, dressing, feeding
o Assisting with mobility and exercise
o Effective verbal and written communication & active listening
o Following instructions and protocols
o Providing companionship and emotional support
o Familiarity with healthcare equipment and devices
o Time management and task prioritization
o Empathy, compassion and understanding emotional needs
o Effective teamwork within a healthcare team and supporting colleagues
o Adaptability and willingness to learn
o Attention to detail and reliability
o Professional appearance and confidentiality adherence
o Problem-solving and critical thinking
* Experience
o Previous experience in a healthcare setting is essential
