EHS Engineer
Location: Sligo
Salary: €60,000 – €70,000 package
We are working with a leading employer in the North West who is seeking an EHS Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. This role reports directly to the EHS Manager and offers the opportunity to develop within a highly regulated and fast-paced manufacturing environment.
You will play a key role in maintaining best-in-class Environmental, Health & Safety standards across the site while supporting ongoing operational and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Support and maintain high standards of Environmental, Health & Safety across all site operations
Promote a proactive safety culture and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure site compliance with all relevant EHS legislation, corporate standards, and internal policies
Develop, implement, and improve EHS systems and procedures to enhance overall site performance
Manage contractor safety processes and monitor performance against key KPIs
Provide guidance to site teams on EHS standards, ISO requirements, and regulatory expectations
Maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications and support audit readiness
Work closely with site management to ensure alignment on EHS objectives and compliance
Ensure employees are trained and competent in all relevant EHS procedures and practices
Conduct risk assessments and oversee the effective implementation of control measures
Requirements
Degree in Occupational Health & Safety (Level 8) or a related discipline
Strong understanding of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards is advantageous
3–5 years’ experience in a similar EHS role
Solid knowledge of EHS legislation, compliance frameworks, and best practice systems
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
Experience within a pharmaceutical environment is desirable; however, candidates from manufacturing or other highly regulated industries will also be considered
