Permanent Full Time Position - 35 hours per fortnight
The mission of the Muiriosa Foundation, is to focus and organise resources and capacities, to ensure that the individual has access to the range and level of supports which he/she requires to experience a self-directed, connected, inclusive, meaningful and fulfilling life. We are currently seeking to recruit a professionally qualified Social Worker for the Midlands region and are appealing to candidates who have an interest in supporting people with intellectual disability and/or autism, and their families, in accordance with the Muiriosa Foundations core values and ethos. At all times, the individual to whom we provide support and services, is at the centre of decision-making.
Role
The role is that of Professionally Qualified Social Worker (PQSW) with additional Designated Officer responsibilities. The PQSW will provide practical and emotional support to individuals with a moderate/severe/profound intellectual disability and their families. The Designated Officer is a named person within the service who has responsibility for receiving and responding to safeguarding concerns in relation to adults at risk of abuse, neglect or exploitation. The Designated Officer also provides advice, support and guidance to staff and ensures that safeguarding concerns are managed in line with the Muiriosa Safeguarding Adults at Risk of Abuse, Policy and Procedures.
Core responsibilities
* Provision of practical and emotional support to individuals with a moderate/severe/profound intellectual disability and/or autism, and their families.
* Working in partnership with Midlands HSE Regional Disability Services and external agencies.
* Assessment of need and advocating for the provision of identified support needs for individuals and their families, for example day-service/individualised service/respite/residential care/ therapeutic etc.
* Working collaboratively, with Muiriosa colleagues across the spectrum of services provided, and responding to issues as they arise.
* Responding to Safeguarding concerns.
* Undertaking Designated Officer duties and related liaison with HSE Safeguarding and Protection teams.
Essential Requirements
* National qualification in Social Work or equivalent – Qualification must be agreed by the national Social Work Qualification Board.
* CORU Registration on the Social Work Register and maintain registration annually.
* Full current driving licence, including ability to travel in the service area.
* Good inter-personal and communication skills.
* The ability to work both alone and in partnership with others.
