We are recruiting for a Medical Scientist / Biomedical Scientist in Microbiology to join the Microbiology Department in Eurofins Biomnis in Sandyford, Dublin 18. To work as a Medical Scientist in Ireland, full CORU registration is required. CORU is the regulatory body for Health and Social Care Professionals in Ireland. Any offer of employment is therefore limited by this obligation.

Working hours: 35 hours per week, Tuesday - Saturday.
Job Description
Registered Medical Scientist / Biomedical Scientist role – working within a team to ensure accurate and timely reporting of patient results. Work with the Senior Medical Scientist and Chief Medical Scientist to improve laboratory services and participate in EQA/IQA, EQC/IQC.
Specific Tasks
* Use of Laboratory Information Management Systems in place in the laboratory.
* Be aware of and compliant with all documentation related to the Department (Training records, SOPs, Forms).
* Assist in the completion of the department’s daily tasks, including work files, to ensure patient results are delivered in a timely manner.
* Analyse specimens in a timely manner.
* Authorize results, ensuring result accuracy at all times.
* Evaluate results and communicate with the Senior or Chief Medical Scientist, Laboratory Services Manager, Consultant Microbiologist and/or the requesting clinician regarding patient safety.
* Assist with validations of new or amended methods/kits/equipment when required.
* Participation in EQA/IQA, EQC/IQC.
* Contribute to monitoring, recording and investigations for non-conformances and audits.
* Contribute to monitoring and recording of complaints and investigations of clinical complaints, taking corrective action as appropriate.
* Reagent preparation and stock management.
* Sample preparation and analysis in accordance with SOPs.
* QC data entry and maintenance of instrumentation.
* Advise on equipment failures or problems encountered during duties.
* Clean and disinfect working areas daily; demonstrate Good Laboratory Practice.

Qualifications
Education
* Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Science
Experience
* Relevant experience in a medical laboratory (microbiology) preferable but not essential
Licences / Certifications / Membership
Medical Scientist - CORU registered
or
Biomedical Scientist - HCPC registered
