Our organization is seeking an accomplished Electrical Engineer to lead and manage the Pre-Construction process for large-scale construction projects.
This role involves overseeing all aspects of pre-construction, including estimating, budgeting, design coordination, value engineering, and procurement strategies for electrical systems. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of electrical systems, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
* Pre-Construction Design Review:
The successful candidate will be responsible for technically evaluating and assessing electrical design drawings and specifications from RIBA Stage 4, confirming design compliance with industry and client standards, identifying scope gaps, hosting electrical workshops to advance design/construction issues, containment loading capacity calculations, containment bracketry design, containment selection and sizing, validation of cable sizes using specific software, redlining of documentation for site use, development of systemized cable matrix and construction work packs.
* Mechanical Systems – Electrical Requirements
* Cross System Electrical Integration
* Pre-Construction Quality Implementation
In addition to these responsibilities, the Electrical Engineer will be required to assess potential risks related to electrical systems, propose mitigation strategies early in the project lifecycle, engage with specialist vendors for the procurement of equipment and services, ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets, and communicate with STS manager and project clients during the Pre-construction phase.
We are looking for a highly skilled individual who can provide early input into schedule development, checking and validating electrical designs and specifications comply with current local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards, communicating any design changes with commercial implications to estimators/QS's, and developing presentations and delivering in a clear and professional manner.
Qualifications:
* Minimum bachelor's degree or better in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
* Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in electrical Pre-construction/engineering, project management, or a related role.
* Prior experience as an electrician would add to the previous requirements.
* Extensive knowledge of Industrial electrical systems, building codes, and construction processes.
* Strong understanding of estimating processes and cost control measures.
* Proficiency with engineering software such as Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
* Proficiency with performing cable calculations, load flow and discrimination studies on software – i.e. Trimble, Amtech, ETAP, Intec etc.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
* Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
* PMP or other relevant certification is a plus.
