Overview

My client is a leading FMCG company that operates within the Healthcare and Grocery channels and employs close to 700 people across the island of Ireland. They are looking for a Key Account Manager to join the team. They have a reputable name within the trade and a great brand portfolio. For this role, you must be commercially astute, resilient and able to build relationships with stakeholders as well as suppliers to be successful.

Andrew, the Head of Sales, leads by example and has high energy and drive. He is looking for an ambitious Key Account Manager to join the team. He says: “Denis I am looking for someone who is calm under pressure; strong on numbers and for me attitude and aptitude can beat experience! In return, the successful candidate will obtain fantastic experience with one of the biggest players within the FMCG sector; be responsible for some fantastic brands and if successful, there is room for career progression.”

NB To be considered for this role, you must have 2–3 years of account management experience within the FMCG sector and ideally with the big 3 retailers in the Irish market.


Key Responsibilities

* Account Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key grocery partners, ensuring high levels of customer service and satisfaction.
* Sales Strategy: Create and implement effective sales strategies to achieve revenue and margin targets and grow market share within assigned accounts.
* Market Analysis: Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and customer insights to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
* Negotiation: Negotiate annual JBPs, pricing, and promotional agreements with key accounts to maximise profitability and enhance brand visibility.
* Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, supply chain, sales and finance, to ensure alignment and support for account initiatives.
* Reporting: Monitor and report on sales performance, market conditions, and account developments to senior management.
* Promotional Planning: Develop and execute promotional plans that align with customer strategies and work with and manage partners to drive product visibility in store.
* NPD Opportunities: Identify & secure new business opportunities either through NPD listings/distribution gains or new category expansion.
* Manage 3rd party field sales team: Manage & direct 3rd party field sales team to ensure all commercial & brand targets are achieved.


Key Requirements

* Minimum 3+ years’ experience in key account management or sales within the FMCG sector, preferably in the grocery market.
* Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
* Strong negotiation and communication skills.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. (Strong Excel is a must)
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
