The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland is a postgraduate medical training college dedicated to ensuring that doctors have the skills to provide patients with the best possible care.
Founded in ****, the college supports doctors to enhance their skills, competencies, and professionalism throughout their working lives.
Through its Faculties and Institutes, The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, offers medical training programmes, examinations, diplomas, and educational courses to equip doctors with the skills and knowledge they need to care for patients and run safe and efficient healthcare systems.
It also offers a range of educational diplomas and courses for learners in the wider healthcare sector.
Position
We are also undergoing significant internal changes.
We are implementing a major programme of transformation that has seen the creation of new business initiatives, the internationalisation of the organisation and closer collaboration with key policy leaders in healthcare.
We are continuing to adopt a more proactive and progressive role in the Irish and international health sector and have become a more outward-looking organisation in recent years as a result.
As new initiatives have been developed, our workforce has grown, and we now employ over 190 people.

IT Services
The RCPI IT Services Department is broadly divided into three teams and streams of activity:
Infrastructure & Operations: Managed by our MSP delivering services including IT Infrastructure, Networks and Operations support, Onsite Deskside Support, first level remote technical support etc.
Applications & Data: Provides support to the management of the RCPI through the provision of integrated systems, processes, and information.
Our services include analysis, design, implementation and support of business systems and the development of management information.
Projects and Improvements: Charged with supporting the successful completion of Information Technology (IT) and Business Change (BC) Projects across the RCPI.
The IT Services department is at the core of the delivery of services to Trainees, Learners, Members, Fellows and Staff ensuring they have access to modern, robust, reliable, and secure ICT systems, and infrastructure.
ICT would be viewed as an enabler within RCPI having witnessed many benefits from previous initiatives.
The RCPI IT department, although small, provides a range of critical services to the College, including:
Supporting business operations

IT Operations Lead
RCPI is seeking a highly competent IT Operations Lead to join our team.
This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of IT services and managing our external managed service partners.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology and be able to communicate well with internal and external customers.
Successful candidate will have responsibility for responding to requests from the business illustrations, reporting, and business analytics to help the business achieve its overall strategy and goals.
The IT Operations Lead will play a pivotal role in supporting RCPI's change programme and digital transformation ambitions.
This position ensures the stability, security, and scalability of IT operations while driving innovation and efficiency.
The role will oversee managed service partners, optimise budgets, and deliver high-quality IT services aligned with organisational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Managed Service Partner(s) Management
Act as the primary liaison with external IT service providers.
Monitor SLAs, performance metrics, and compliance.
Drive continuous improvement and cost optimisation with partners.
Budget & Cost Management
Own IT operational budgets and forecasting.
Identify and drive cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
Infrastructure & Security
Oversee core infrastructure (network, servers, cloud platforms).
Ensure robust cybersecurity measures and compliance with data protection standards.
Develop, maintain, and regularly test business continuity and disaster recovery plans to ensure resilience and rapid recovery of IT services in the event of disruptions.
Operational Excellence
Implement ITIL best practices for incident, problem, and change management.
Maintain high system availability and performance.
Align IT operations with RCPI's transformation roadmap.
Ensure systems and processes enable programme delivery and future scalability.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Provide regular updates on IT performance, risks, and projects.
Project Management
Lead IT projects from initiation to delivery, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
Apply structured methodologies (e.g., Agile, PMP, PRINCE2) for effective execution.
Manage the delivery of agreed improvements under the IT roadmap, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and timelines.
Identify emerging technologies and propose solutions to enhance IT services.
Foster a culture of innovation within IT operations.
Process Development & Compliance
Establish and document IT operational processes and governance frameworks.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and organisational standards.
Manage and maintain all IT policies, ensuring they are up-to-date, compliant with regulatory requirements, and communicate effectively across the organisation.
Training & Capability Building
Develop & monitor staff training programmes on new technologies and compliance requirements.
Promote best practices and continuous learning across the organisation.
AI Management
Oversee the integration and management of AI tools and platforms within RCPI's IT ecosystem.
Ensure AI solutions align with organisational goals, compliance standards, and ethical guidelines.
Monitor AI performance, data security, and accuracy.
Collaborate with business units to identify opportunities for AI-driven process improvements and automation.
Ensure AV equipment for RCPI events and meetings is fully operational and maintained.
Provide technical support during live events, webinars, and hybrid meetings.
Manage AV setup, troubleshooting, and coordination with internal teams and vendors.
Implement processes for regular equipment testing and upgrades.
Application Development Support
Manage and maintain development, testing, and staging environments.
Oversee release management processes to ensure smooth deployments.
Collaborate with development teams to support application lifecycle management.
Provide guidance to IT support teams and stakeholders.
Collaborate with programme managers and business units to ensure IT alignment.
Requirements
Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience in IT operations leadership within a complex organisation.
Strong knowledge of
cloud technologies
(M365, Azure), networking, and security.
Experience managing
third-party service providers
and vendor contracts.
Budget management and financial planning expertise.
Familiarity with
ITIL frameworks
and service management principles.
Ability to drive
innovation
and adopt
emerging technologies
.
Experience in
process design, compliance frameworks
, and staff training.
Knowledge of
application environment management and release processes
.
Experience with
AV systems and event technology support
.
Desirable:
Cybersecurity certifications
(CISSP, CISM) and experience in change programmes.

Leave:
