JOB PURPOSE We are seeking a dynamic, dedicated and experienced DV Support Worker (Childrens Services) to provide specialist, trauma-informed supports to children andyoungpeopleaged518yearswhohaveexperienceddomesticviolenceand abuse.
Our approach is child-led, therapeutic, and developmentally informed, ensuringchildrensexperiences,voices,andneedsareatthecentreofallwedo.The DV Support Worker (Childrens Services) will provide direct support to children and youngpeople affected bydomestic violence andabuse, helpingthem tounderstand theirexperiences,buildresilience,andrecover inasafe,nurturing,and empowering environment.

Purpose of the Job Theprimarypurposeofthejobistoprovidecommunity-basedsupporttochildren, young people and mothers impacted by domestic violence.
To achieve this, the candidate will collaborate with the parents to address each childs physical, educational, social and emotional needs.
Working as part of a team, the candidate will provide a needs-led support service for children and young people, up to 18 yrs and will include one to one work, group work, specialized programmes, advocacy, accompaniment and referrals to other support services.
Key functions and tasks Child,YouthandFamilySupport Work with an allocated caseload of children and families in the community.
Carry out a strengths and needs-based assessment with the family and develop a care plan for the child.
Carry out regular care plan reviews with family to highlight their progress.
Make referrals to statutory, community and therapeutic supports.
Deliver parenting support through Parenting Programmes.
Provide emotional support and advice regarding domestic violence.
Deliverindividualkeyworkwithchildrenandyoungpeople.Usetheonegood adultapproach to ensure their voice is heard in matters that impact them.
Advocacy and support at vital health/developmental/educational appointments, where necessary.
Providecourtaccompanimenttofamilieswherechildrenarerequiredtoattend courthearings.
Group Work DeliverHealthyRelationshipsTalksinschools/youthcentres,creatingacalendar ofHealthyRelationshipsTalksforeachacademicyear.
Design and deliver group programmes for children/parents.
Support children to engage in Childhood Domestic Violence and Abuse Projects in collaboration with Barnardos i.e. Empower Kidz Project and TLC Kidz Deliverseasonalprogrammes for children i.e. summerprojects, Easterand ChristmasEvents.
ChildProtection&Welfare: FollowSafeIrelandsChildProtection&Welfarepolicyandproceduresinline with Childrens First ****.
Carry out mandated person duties.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience, personal characteristics and educational background.
Education/Qualifications BA in Applied Social Studies/ Social Care /Social Work/ Youth Work/ Youth & Community Work at NFQ Level 7 or higher is required for this position.
A qualification or training in working with domestic violence would be an distinct advantage Knowledge Knowledge of the dynamics and impact of domestic violence and coercive control Awareness of gender analysis as a systematic analytical process used to identify and understand the relevance of gender roles and power dynamics in society Awareness of interculturally competent approaches to meeting the needs of those who have experienced domestic violence and coercive control Up to date knowledge of housing, criminal, civil and welfare rights legislation relating to domestic violence and coercive control Knowledge of GDPR requirements for frontline services Knowledge of child protection legislation and reporting requirements Experience Significant (or Demonstrable) experience in an organisation (paid ) working directly with young people and children who have experienced domestic violence and coercive control.
Extensive experience of sensitively assessing and responding to the needs and risks of children and young people experiencing domestic violence and coercive control Experienceofworkinginaresidentialsetting/refuge/youthworkenvironmentorother relevant agency.
