Student Work Placement 2026/2027
This year, we have an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate student studying Quality, Lean Management, Business Process Improvement, Operations, Engineering, or a related discipline to join the Electric Ireland Superhomes Student Work Placement programme.
This placement will give the successful candidate valuable hands‑on experience in a fast-paced and growing business, supporting the development and improvement of our internal processes, policies, procedures, and process maps. It is an excellent opportunity for a student who is interested in quality systems, operational improvement, and documenting how organisations work effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Support the review and improvement of internal business processes across the organisation
Assist in creating, updating, and maintaining process maps, workflows, policies, and procedures
Work with different departments to gather information on how tasks and processes are currently carried out
Help identify opportunities to improve consistency, efficiency, and standardisation in day‑to‑day operations
Support the documentation of processes in a clear, practical, and user‑friendly way
Assist with maintaining document control and ensuring process documentation is kept up to date
Contribute to quality and continuous improvement initiatives across the business
Use tools such as Microsoft Visio or other relevant software to produce process maps and supporting documentation
Provide general administrative and project support related to quality, process improvement, and operational development
Candidate Requirements
Be currently studying for a degree in Quality & Lean Management, Business, Operations, Engineering, or another related discipline
Be available to complete a 6 to 12‑month placement — please state your availability (length of placement, start date, and finish date) in your application
Have a strong interest in process improvement, quality systems, and organisational efficiency
Have good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with different teams across the business
Have strong attention to detail and the ability to organise information clearly and accurately
Be comfortable using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
Have knowledge of Microsoft Visio or other relevant process mapping / workflow tools
Be able to prioritise workloads and work effectively to deadlines
Be a self‑starter, proactive, and willing to learn in a fast‑paced environment
Previous exposure to quality systems, process mapping, policy writing, or continuous improvement tools would be an advantage
Location
Electric Ireland Superhomes head office is based in Thurles, Co. Tipperary. Hybrid‑working will be a feature of this position (i.e. one day per week in the office, with the option to work the remainder of the week remotely).
