What is the opportunity?
We are looking for a Cloud Technical Site Reliability Engineer to join our Cloud Centre of Excellence. You will contribute to the Bank of Ireland IT Digital transformation journey, work with a multi‑vendor environment, and help build solutions from scratch using native technologies while supporting critical workloads on cloud.
In this role, you will
Collaborate with development teams to implement and deploy new features and enhancements, ensuring they meet reliability and performance standards.
Automate repetitive tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to monitor systems, proactively identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, availability issues or monitoring gaps.
Support the CCoE in understanding error budgets for platforms and critical workloads.
Own the Problem Management process within the CCoE, performing proactive problem management and conducting post‑incident analyses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
Support Change Management and UAM processes as required, planning deployments to minimize impact (e.g., blue/green, canary deployments) based on error budgets.
Create and maintain documentation such as operational procedures and Technical Operations Manuals.
What will make you stand out?
You have demonstrated work experience in a similar operational role ideally managing business‑critical environments, and experience managing public cloud infrastructure (AWS and Azure an advantage). Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix systems, command line tools, and proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Shell are desirable. Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible or Chef), code management and deployment tools such as Bitbucket and Jenkins or native tooling, networking and communication systems (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS), and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration tools will make you an attractive candidate.

IT relevant Diploma or Degree
SRE related certification
Cloud related certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure)
IT Audit and Risk Management Certification

The Infrastructure Operations Team enables the service by providing the Bank with the technology required to run the business, securing customers and bank data, and improving stability. The Cloud Centre of Excellence is tasked with enabling cloud adoption and acting as a trusted advisor for the Bank’s digital transformation.
