The Role
The Revenue and Financial Operations function is responsible for the effective and successful delivery of all Revenue, Business Performance & Project Reporting activities along with the delivery of all Reporting and Accounting processes and activities.
The function is a strategic advisor and a lead interface between the CFO, the Uisce Éireann business areas and the finance teams, managing, shaping and supporting a consistent finance service provision.
The Finance Operations area for Uisce Éireann ensures effective financial management for the organisation and provides the expertise, services and information to support the business in achieving its required business outcomes, including supporting the financial and information requirements of Uisce Éireann.
The team acts as a strategic advisor to the Uisce Éireann revenue areas.
Additionally, the team is responsible for the effective and successful delivery of all Business Performance & Project Reporting activities and the delivery of all Reporting and Accounting processes and activities.
Reporting to the Reporting and Accounting Manager, the Reporting & Accounting Technical Lead will be responsible for leading the reporting and accounting processes and activities in an accurate, efficient, and effective manner.
The role holder is also responsible for month end, stakeholder reporting and financial management reporting.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare management accounts and board reports on a monthly basis, in line with agreed deadlines and in accordance with established internal controls
Complete month end responsibilities in line with agreed timelines
Work with the wider Finance team and Business Partners to deliver reporting and accounting activity and to streamline processes efficiently and effectively across the business
Lead and support the Fixed Asset Analyst, ensuring that month end activities are completed without error and in line with agreed timelines
Liaise with internal and external auditors, providing support throughout interim and year end audits
Develop financial accounting and reporting processes and streamline and standardise these processes in collaboration with the Reporting and Accounting Manager
Lead in the preparation of the interim and annual Uisce Éireann financial statements
Collaborate with the company's external auditors to ensure timely and appropriate responses are given to audit queries
Monitor the close process, ensuring that Period End close activities are performed according to agreed close schedules
Ensure adherence to all Uisce Éireann accounting policies
Maintain and align reporting templates and perform reviews of financial reports (Trial balance / P&L / Balance Sheet reports etc.)
Provide detailed analysis as required, including analysis required under the code of practice for the governance of state bodies
Ensure timely responses for all Departmental queries, FOI queries, NewEra queries and other ad hoc requests from external stakeholders
Lead process improvement initiatives to meet business goals
Collaborate with business stakeholders, participate in relevant meetings, and develop strong working relationships with financial reporting and accounting customers
Apply a best practice control environment
Keep up to date with best practice
Ensure the provision of information to internal / external auditors
Lead, coach, develop and motivate the team
General Duties and Responsibilities
Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business
Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards
Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives
Conduct duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann's Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation
Other duties as required
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Recognised accounting qualification (ACA; ACMA; ACCA), or equivalent together with associated current membership
Relevant third-level qualification and or accreditation is desirable
A minimum of 5 years' experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable and or relevant experience
Ability to continuously develop and improve ways of working and points of escalation for customer issues to ensure our customers and communities receive high levels of service standards
Demonstrated people management experience, guiding a team to work together and offer support to make the right decisions
Competence in leading by example in challenging situations and taking action based on team feedback
Demonstrated experience of influencing teams to aim for and achieve high standards by setting clear goals and direction in line with business strategy
Ability to be a strong advocate for safety and wellbeing practices and ensure these are constantly being followed within your team
