Customs Manager Freight Forwarding Our client, a well-established and respected provider of integrated warehousing, transport, and logistics solutions, is seeking an experienced Customs Manager / Senior Freight Forwarder to join their Dublin 15 operation.
This is a key role within the logistics team, suited to a highly capable professional with strong end-to-end freight forwarding knowledge and extensive customs management and compliance expertise.
The successful candidate will take ownership of customs operations and international freight movements across air, sea, and road, ensuring full regulatory compliance while delivering a high-quality, efficient service to a diverse client base in a fast-paced environment.
Salary: €45,000 per annum Working Hours:Monday to Friday Location: Dublin 15 Key Responsibilities: Manage and oversee end-to-end freight forwarding operations across air, sea, and road transport, ensuring timely and cost-effective movement of goods.
Take full responsibility for customs clearance activities, including preparation, submission, and validation of import/export declarations in line with Irish, EU, and international regulations.
Act as the primary point of contact for customs authorities, ensuring compliance with Revenue requirements and handling audits, inspections, and post-clearance queries where required.
Provide expert guidance on Incoterms, tariff classifications, customs valuation, origin rules, and duty management.
Coordinate daily with shipping lines, airlines, hauliers, brokers, and overseas agents to ensure seamless shipment execution.
Proactively monitor shipments, identifying and resolving delays, discrepancies, or compliance issues efficiently.
Prepare accurate freight quotations, manage operational costs, and support margin control and budgeting activities.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, offering professional advice on customs processes, documentation, and regulatory best practice.
Stay up to date with changes in customs legislation, trade agreements, and freight industry developments, ensuring internal processes remain compliant and efficient.
Support continuous improvement initiatives within customs and freight operations, including system enhancements and process optimisation.
Key Requirements: Minimum 5 years experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or customs operations, with demonstrable experience managing air, sea, and road shipments.
Proven customs management expertise, including hands-on experience with customs declarations, clearance procedures, Incoterms, and international trade compliance.
Strong understanding of EU and Irish customs regulations, including import/export controls and post-Brexit requirements.
Experience working with freight forwarding software and Transport Management Systems (TMS); customs systems knowledge is highly desirable.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a high level of attention to detail and compliance.
