The appointee will play an active part in a team that designs, leads projects and manages ICT operations and services across the organisation. The primary purpose is to manage, maintain, secure and develop the Teagasc ICT infrastructure in order to provide an efficient and resilient service to Teagasc staff, students and external clients.ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure operations & supportActively contribute to the Infrastructure team and ICT Department to deliver reliable infrastructure services, handle incident and problem resolution, and provide day-to-day systems administration across the estate (Windows, Linux, Active Directory, VMware, SAN, backup platforms, fileshares, monitoring and networking devices).Cloud, systems integration & lifecycle managementManage and administer virtual and cloud services (Microsoft 365, Azure/Azure AD/Entra, D365, Dataverse, Azure servers/databases, PowerApps), lead patching, OS and software upgrades, mobile device configuration (Intune), and oversee integration of on‑premise and cloud components through the asset lifecycle.Security, resilience & complianceLead security hardening, patch and vulnerability management, backup/DR and business continuity planning and exercises, and ensure infrastructure complies with Teagasc policies, standards, Quality Customer Service commitments and health & safety obligations.Supplier, procurement & contract/asset managementManage procurement for services, software and hardware (including tendering), provide expert guidance to Managed Service partners on Teagasc policies and procedures, and participate in supplier/contract performance, risk reviews and tracking of IT assets.Projects, documentation & continuous improvementProject manage assigned projects and supervise work by Managed Services/external suppliers, maintain and develop infrastructure documentation and runbooks, research emerging technologies and develop strategic partnerships to support ongoing improvement and professional development.QualificationsCandidates will ideally have a Level 8 qualification, as recognised on the National Framework of Qualifications, or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology or other relevant discipline.Candidates with a relevant Level 7 or Level 6 qualification will be considered and if successfully appointed will be required to complete a Level 8 qualification (supported by Teagasc) within a three-year timeframe).Essential - A proven track record of at least 2 years in an Enterprise ICT environment working as a Systems Administrator with a strong component of Microsoft cloud services. This should include solution design, solution implementation and maintenance and cost/billing management.Desirable - 3 to 5 years' experience of relevant technologies – Azure, Office365, Identity and Access Management as it relates to Azure, Exchange On-line, Teams and Active Directory including DHCP and DNS, Commvault, VMware.
